Rijksmuseum Wallpaper

Designed by Piet Hein Eek - NLXL

Piet Hein Eek born in 1967, is a Dutch designer reinvents materials by reimagining the way traditional raw and waste materials are used.

After the worldwide succes of Scrapwood and Materials Wallpaper, Piet Hein Eek and NLXL introduce Rijksmuseum Wallpaper, comprising 5 designs.

Rick Vintage, NLXL Creative Director: “There was something in the air. While working on the idea of a Rijksmuseum collection I sent a text to Piet Hein Eek to show him what we were working on. He replied with an image of a cupboard he designed, printed with the exact same image we used in our try-outs. Right there and then we decided to present this collection together in Milan.”

Piet Hein Eek: “By taking what’s there as a source of inspiration I try to connect past and future in a pragmatic and natural way. Surprisingly enough this urge to do what’s obvious often provides innovative products and concepts.”
