Risom 65 Sofa 3 seater Metal Base

Designed by Jens Risom - Fredericia

Jens Risom (1916 - 2016) was a key figure who contributed to the Danish Modernism movement, considered the first designer to introduce a Scandinavian sense of aesthetics and focus on functionalism to America. After studying design at the Copenhagen School of Industrial Arts and Design, Risom trained under Kaare Klint, who led the furniture school at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. An opportunity Risom shared alongside fellow icons-in-the-making Hans J. Wegner and Børge Mogensen.

Jens Risom joins Fredericia’s stable of talented designers together with his former classmates, Hans J. Wegner and Børge Mogensen, whose work laid the foundation for Fredericia.

Description

Originally designed by Jens Risom in 1965, the Risom 65 Sofa boasts streamlined architectural lines in an elegant expression that’s clean and uncluttered. Adding to the comfort are plush, loose seat and back cushions that fit neatly into the concept. Cushion covers in fabric are reversible and the recessed base is available in steel or solid wood. It’s all part of a practical approach to a sofa that signals sophistication.
