Made by Ivo Stoyanov
In recent years I. Stoyanov has worked with what he would define as “nature as a process“- a painting that neither idealizes nor plays with nature as a mere fragment, but it’s conceived as a process.
The artist begins with an abstract monochromatic background using spontaneous and controlled brushstrokes. This serves as a support for large geometric forms, which are aesthetically balanced masses of colour, creating a composition with visual tension (addition, subtraction, rotation, concentration, movement, directionality, and order) and poetic value. Colour is related to the shape and is raw and vibrates. The space exists to provoke and communicate pure exploration of the senses.Stoyanov uses a combination of acrylic paint mediums, marble dust, pigments, and cold wax mediums, resulting in a satin surface, rich with visual texture and energy.
